DICKEY'S BARBECUE PIT SIGNS NEW OWNER/OPERATOR
Country's Largest Growing Barbecue Chain Expands in Minnesota as Eggerud Joins Family

(LAKEVILLE, Minnesota) Texas-based Dickey's Barbecue, the largest barbecue chain in the country is growing even larger as Tom Eggerud of Lakeville, Minn. signs on to open his own franchise.

"We are so excited Dickey's is expanding in Minnesota," President of Dickey's Barbecue Restaurants, Inc. Roland Dickey, Jr. said. "As our company grows, we grow as a family. This is a great opportunity for Tom and for the company."

Dickey's Barbecue Pit is well-known for their 10 hot pit-smoked barbecue meats, free ice cream and free big yellow cups.

New Owner/Operator Eggerud said their quality barbecue and down-home feel will be a great addition his community.

"I have always loved Dickey's and I know my neighbors here in Lakeville will love it too," Thomson said.

Since early 2009, Dickey's has opened 30 stores, currently bringing their number of franchises to 168 open and in development across the country.

Many owner/operators are businessmen and women who have never ran a business, but Dickey's business model is structured for success.

"Dickey's has a great business structure and with so many stores so successful, I am confident my Dickey's will do very well. I am just anxious to get started," the new Owner/Operator said.

This seems to be the sentiment of all Dickey's owner/operators.

"We have so many new Owner/Operators who are investing with us and in this economy, we are glad people trust us for success," Dickey said.

With the unemployment rate at a frightening high, Dickey's and their entrepreneurial partners are offering jobs to many and expanding when other businesses are shutting down.

"Our progress is surprising to a lot of folks, but it makes sense to us. People want to get out of the rat race," Dickey said. "In turn, these new stores are employing hundreds of people who otherwise would be on unemployment."

The first Dickey's Barbecue opened in 1941 in Dallas, TX. The original location is still open for business and Dickey's Barbecue is still owned and operated by the Dickey Family.

Dickey's only began franchising in 1994, now there are over 110 locations in 21 states.
Even today, Dickey's still slow smokes all of their signature meats overnight in every restaurant.
